Program Director

Reporting to the CEO, the Program Director provides strategic leadership for the development, implementation, and evaluation of programs supporting Friendship Centres and Indigenous communities across Saskatchewan.

The Program Director builds and maintains relationships with Friendship Centres, Indigenous partners, governments, funders, and industry stakeholders. The role leads community engagement and needs assessments to identify priorities, gaps, and opportunities that strengthen Indigenous-led solutions and community impact.

The position oversees programs and funding agreements exceeding $1 million annually, ensuring compliance, financial stewardship, accountability, and achievement of measurable outcomes. Responsibilities include budget oversight, reporting, proposal development, performance monitoring, and program delivery.

A key focus of this role is leading a multi-year education and systems-change strategy that advances cultural safety, reconciliation, and improved outcomes for Indigenous peoples. The Program Director will build partnerships, support sector-wide change initiatives, and promote sustainable, community-informed solutions.

The successful candidate will supervise staff, foster accountability and continuous improvement, and oversee culturally safe approaches to information gathering, evaluation, reporting, and data management.

Qualifications

Minimum 7-10 years of progressive leadership experience in Indigenous, nonprofit, community, government, or related sectors.

Experience managing funding portfolios exceeding $1 million.

Proven success leading complex programs and partnerships.

Experience supervising and developing staff.

Strong skills in strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, budgeting, and project management.

Knowledge of Friendship Centres and Indigenous-led approaches is an asset.
