Overview

White Bear Education Complex (WBEC) is located approximately 13 km north of Carlyle. WBEC maintains a low student-to-teacher ratio of approximately 6:1 and is guided by the Seven Grand Teachings: bravery, honesty, humility, love, respect, truth, and wisdom. The Principal reports to the Director of Education and Board of Education and provides educational leadership, administration, and support for the Boards mission, vision, and goals.

Key Responsibilities

Lead school programming, instruction, student assessment, and continuous improvement.

Supervise, support, evaluate, and assign duties to staff; lead professional development and staff meetings.

Build positive relationships with students, families, community, the Board of Education, and educational partners.

Promote a school environment grounded in White Bear First Nation values, culture, and practices.

Oversee school operations, including scheduling, registration, records, inventory, facilities, safety procedures, security, and student activities.

Develop and manage the school budget, invoices, school funds, reports, and required documentation.

Support recruitment, onboarding, job-description review, and substitute-teacher coordination.

Teach or cover classes when needed.

Qualifications

Valid Saskatchewan Professional A or Standard A Teaching Certificate, or currently working toward certification.

Demonstrated successful teaching experience and strong leadership skills.

Knowledge of Saskatchewan curriculum, current educational practices, and planning for student success.

Knowledge of First Nations education, curriculum, resources, and community-based learning.

Collaborative, responsive, and committed to staff, student, and community success.

A Masters degree in educational leadership, principal/school administration training, and First Nations education administration coursework are preferred.
