About this role
- Process payroll accurately and on schedule in accordance with organizational policies and applicable legislation.
- Review and verify employee timesheets, attendance records, shift premiums, overtime, and leave requests.
- Enter payroll information, including new hires, terminations, wage changes, deductions, and benefit changes.
- Calculate and process statutory deductions, including CPP, EI, and income tax.
- Process vacation pay, statutory holiday pay, sick leave, and other payroll-related entitlements.
- Maintain accurate payroll records and employee files.
- Assist in the administration of employee benefit enrollments, changes, and terminations.
- Assist in the processing of pension enrollments and contributions.
- Assist in Reconciling benefit and pension invoices.
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll, benefits, and deductions.
- Prepare payroll reports for management/union.
- Reconcile payroll registers and general ledger accounts.
- Assist with month-end and year-end payroll procedures as required.
- Prepare T4s and other year-end payroll reporting if required.
- MUST BE PROFICIENT IN COMPUTERIZED PAYROLL SYSTEM: SAGE
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite and particularly Excel and Word.
- Must have strong mathematical and data entry skills.
- Must have excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Must have effective verbal and written English communication skills.
- Must have the ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
