Job Description: The Public Health Nurse translates knowledge from the health and social sciences to support health-enhancing behaviors of individuals, families and population groups through targeted interventions, programs, and advocacy. Inherent in this role are knowledge, skills, and abilities specific to health promotion, prevention, and protection. This employee focuses on the immunization program for adults, high risk individuals and international travelers and works relatively independently. This employee is expected to make decisions based on sound assessments high risk individuals and international travelers and works relatively independently. This employee is expected to make decisions based on sound assessments in accordance with The Public Health Act, the policies of the Public Health Nursing program and the Health Region, the CRNS Standards of Practice, the Canadian Community Health Nursing Standards of Practice, and other relevant legislation. This employee liaises with, and refers to, other health personnel, other sectors and community groups. The Public Health Nurse works within guidelines established by Health Region policy to plan, organize, implement and evaluate nursing programs in an assigned area, under the direction and supervision of a Public Health Nursing supervisor.
