Municipal Planner

The City of Warman is seeking a qualified candidate to fill the full-time position of Senior Planner.

Reporting to the Director of Planning and Development, the Senior Planner provides planning and development review, policy, permitting, subdivision, enforcement, mapping, and project leadership services for the City of Warman. The position supports responsible community growth, administers municipal planning bylaws and related legislation, provides advice and recommendations to Administration, Council, committees, developers, residents, and regional partners.

Qualifications

Post-secondary degree in urban planning, regional planning, geography, public administration, environmental studies, or a related discipline; an equivalent combination of education and municipal planning experience may be considered.

Minimum of five years of progressively responsible municipal planning, development review, subdivision, policy, permitting, enforcement, mapping, project coordination, or related local government experience, preferably in Saskatchewan.

Working knowledge of The Planning and Development Act, 2007, municipal planning processes, municipal governance, zoning bylaws, community plans, subdivision processes, discretionary use procedures, minor variances, public notice requirements, development appeals, and land use enforcement practices.

Experience preparing reports, recommendations, policy documents, public engagement materials, maps, RFPs, concept plans, presentations, notices, orders, and professional correspondence.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office, GIS or mapping systems, aerial imagery tools, permit tracking systems, records management, and other software used to support planning, communication, analysis, and data management.
