Municipal Operator

The Town of Rosthern is seeking a motivated and dependable Municipal Operator to join our Public Works team. Reporting to the Public Works Lead Hand and Municipal Operations Manager, this position plays a key role in maintaining and improving municipal infrastructure, utilities, facilities, and public spaces. Responsibilities include operating and maintaining a variety of municipal equipment such as graders, loaders, backhoes, tandem trucks, skid steers, and other specialized heavy equipment. The successful candidate will assist with the construction, maintenance, and repair of roads, sidewalks, drainage systems, signage, and other municipal infrastructure, as well as snow and ice control operations during the winter season. The Municipal Operator will also support the operation and maintenance of the Town's water distribution and wastewater systems, including water meter installation and maintenance, hydrant flushing, utility inspections, water sampling, and regulatory record keeping. The position requires participation in an on-call rotation and emergency response activities related to watermain breaks, sewer backups, flooding, severe weather, and other municipal emergencies. The ideal candidate will have experience in urban or rural municipal public works, construction, equipment operation, or a related field. Preference will be given to candidates who have demonstrated experience safely operating and maintaining heavy equipment, particularly motor graders, as well as fleet vehicles and other municipal equipment.
