About this role
As a member of the Friendship Centre team and under the direction of the Executive Director, the primary goal will be to promote, enhance or re-establish the mental health and/or emotional well-being of clients. Responsibilities include providing informational programming as well as individual and group counseling sessions with clients. The position will be expected to assess individual and group needs of clients and implement plans to help clients reach their goals. It is important that all care and services are provided through a wholistic, trauma-informed, GBA+ and culturally informed lens.
Qualifications
Degree in Social Work; Diploma in Mental Health and Wellness or a related field.
Some Duties include
Provide appropriate counselling and referrals for clients.
Acts as a case manager for clients.
Conducts counselling and group sessions in meeting clients needs.
Work with Elders and Knowledge Keepers to include cultural and land based healing in clients journey as appropriate.
Prepare, organize and present education sessions to clients and the community.
Involve outside referral agencies and community resources to assist the client in achieving their mental health and wellness goals.
Develop community resources.
Maintain accurate and confidential case notes.
In-home or community visits might be required depending on the individual clients situation.
Maintain statistics.
Assist clients when applying for resources. (e.g. Health cards, status cards, SIN).
