About this role
The City of Moose Jaw is seeking to fill a full-time Maintenance Worker/Relief Operator that performs various duties related to the operation and maintenance of City Water and Wastewater Pump Stations and Wastewater Treatment Systems. This is shift work and includes after-hour calls for emergency repairs, work in hazardous and confined space locations and work in the presence of gases and fumes. This position requires technical knowledge and hands-on skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist operations in maintenance and repair of equipment at sewage pump stations, water pump stations and the wastewater treatment and disposal system.
- Various maintenance and cleaning.
- Operate a variety of hand and power tools.
- Operate and maintain the skid steer loader and attachments.
- Respond to City infrastructure emergencies as required.
- Adhere to the safety regulations in the Occupational Health and Safety policy.
- Assist in inventory control of equipment and supplies.
- Assume the duties of an operator when required.
Qualifications
- Grade 12.
- Written and passed level 1 in either Water Distribution, Wastewater Collection or Wastewater Treatment. A requirement to obtain Saskatchewan Operator Board Certification for Level I Wastewater Treatment, Water Distribution and Wastewater Collection, or must pass Level I certification exams within 6 months.
- Class 5 drivers license.
- Physical demands assessment.
- Sufficient mechanical and electrical knowledge.
- Obtain certifications for WHIMIS, Transportation of Dangerous Goods, Confined Space Entry, First Aid, CPR, H2S, Fall Protection, Hoisting, Rigging, Overhead Crane, Chlorine Gas Systems, Skid Steer.
- Physical ability to safely perform all manual labour duties.
