About this role
We are seeking energetic and dedicated Lifeguard/Instructors to support the delivery of safe, engaging, and inclusive aquatic programs. Reporting to the Recreation Services Supervisor (Pool), you will combine your lifeguarding expertise and instructional skills to help patrons build confidence, develop swimming abilities, and enjoy a safe recreational environment.
KEY RESPONSIBITIES
- Ensure the safe delivery of municipal aquatic programs
- Ensure all patrons adhere to rules of the facility
- Respond to first aid and emergency situations
- Serve in the capacity of learn-to-swim or fitness instructor
- Address inquiries from general public and user groups
- Ensure patrons and staff are aware of all matters regarding water safety
- Perform various cleaning tasks and ensure all related pool program areas within the facility are clean, safe and up to established standards
- Assist in pool maintenance and tests as required to meet established standards
- Lead a safety-focused culture within their area of responsibility by promoting positive attitudes towards health and safety in themselves and the general public
QUALIFICATIONS
- Current Standard First Aid with CPR C, Current National Lifeguard Certification; Current Life Saving Swim for Life Instructor Certification
- Able to acquire: Fitness Instructor Certification within 6 months, Lifesaving Instructor Certificate within 6 months and Swimming Pool Operator Course Certificate within 1 year
- Ability to deal courteously, effectively and tactfully with the public
- Ability to physically and mentally perform duties required in an emergency situation.
- Ability to work with cash accurately and in an accountable manner.
- Microsoft based computer systems and ability to learn new software systems
Hours of Work
Mon Fri (Shift is usually 5:30 am-1:30 pm).
Compensation Details
$23.66 to $26.88
