Job Summary
Are you a dynamic and creative individual who has a passion for leading engaging programs and working with seniors including those with dementia?
We are seeking such individuals to join our team in providing excellent service in our seniors retirement community. The ideal candidates will support the planning, organization and delivery of meaningful programs for residents and guests to enhance their physical, cognitive, emotional, social, and spiritual wellbeing.
Responsibilities
- Support the planning, organization, delivery and evaluation of meaningful activities relating to the physical, emotional, social, intellectual and spiritual needs of residents and guests
- Lead and promote resident awareness and participation, in leisure, social and recreation programs that meet their needs and interests
- Assist with the maintenance of appropriate records including attendance, assessments and evaluations of planned programs and charting
- Maintain effective communication and good human relations with residents, guests, families, volunteers and staff including keeping them informed of current and upcoming events
- Assists in the direction and supervision of participants in volunteer and student placement programs
- Coordinate the transportation of participants to and from outside events including driving a company vehicle when needed
Qualifications
- Energetic, compassionate and caring person who enjoys working with seniors
- Diploma or degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in the field of Recreation, Physical Education, Kinesiology, Leisure Studies and/or Gerontology is considered an asset
- Prior experience in recreation programming for a senior population is preferred
