About this role
MLCFA Inc is looking to fill a part-time contract position (1 year) as a Land Based Facilitator. This role is to provide Woodland Cree traditional land-based teachings to Camp Home and Prevention relatives of Montreal Lake 106A and Little Red 106B through hands on learning in a wilderness and/or camp setting; to provide with the cultural knowledge required to be a self-sustainable First Nation.
QUALIFICATIONS
5+ years experience in traditional land-based practices including, but not limited to; hunting, fishing, trapping, wilderness survival, gun safety, water safety etc.
Ability to lift 50 lbs and over.
Must have all related safety tickets (ex. first aid/CPR, gun safety, wilderness survival etc.)
Must understand the Woodland Cree language and have extensive knowledge of First Nations culture, practices, protocols, customs and belief systems.
Computer literacy with particular proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Must be willing to work evenings and weekends.
Ability to problem-solve and resolve conflict.
Excellent interpersonal, clinical and communication skills as well as written, organizational and time management skills.
Must be a positive role model.
Must not be actively involved with a First Nations Child and Family Agency or Department of Social Services as a client receiving family services or child protection services.
Must maintain a high degree of confidentiality.
Must have a valid drivers license and access to a reliable vehicle.
Satisfactory CPIC and Vulnerable Sector Check.
Willingness to work in both Montreal Lake 106A and Little Red 106B.
