KidsFirst Transition Specialist

Battlefords Family Health Centre; located in downtown North Battleford is seeking applications for the home visiting component of the KidsFirst program. One Transition Specialist will be recruited for a Full-Time position.

The KidsFirst program is a provincial initiative, jointly managed by representatives from Ministry of

Social Services, Saskatchewan Health Authority, Living Sky School Division, Light of Christ School Division, and Battle River Treaty 6 Health Centre Inc. KidsFirst offers parenting and early childhood support for families and children, prenatal to age 3.

Job Summary - Under the direction of the Home Visiting Supervisor, the TRANSITION SPECIALIST will provide

services to families with pre-k and kindergarten aged children within the Battlefords to support families

preparing to transition their child into school. The Transition Specialist will support families through ongoing

home visits to promote school readiness and reduce barriers families may face. They will work with families

to help coordinate and link them to early learning programs and other existing services in the community.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge and awareness of cultural values and practices within the community

Awareness of and demonstrated ability to relate to families facing multiple challenges relating to

parenting

Experience working with children from 0-5 years of age is an asset.

Knowledge of child development and family dynamics

College diploma/certificate in early learning or human services discipline or an equivalent combination of

experience and education

Basic computer skills are required

Good written and oral communication skills

Ability to work in a team environment

Demonstrated maturity and positive attitude

Able to work flexible hours
