Hotel Handyman / Maintenance Technician

The Hotel Handyman / Maintenance Technician maintains hotel facilities to ensure a safe, functional, and welcoming environment for guests and employees. This role performs preventative, routine, and emergency maintenance, responds promptly to service requests, conducts inspections, troubleshoots problems, and proactively addresses issues before they impact hotel operations.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.

General maintenance/handyman experience, preferably in hospitality or a commercial setting.

Working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and carpentry.

Ability to safely operate hand and power tools.

Valid driverss licence and reliable transportation.

Preferred Qualifications

Maintenance, electrical, plumbing, or HVAC training/certification.

Hotel maintenance experience.

Knowledge of Canadian safety standards and applicable building codes.

First Aid/CPR certification.

Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

Perform preventative, routine, and emergency plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, painting, and general repairs.

Inspect facilities regularly and resolve deficiencies before they affect guests or operations.

Respond promptly to maintenance requests and troubleshoot equipment or facility issues.

Maintain accurate work orders, inspection, and repair records.

Coordinate maintenance priorities with management and other departments.

Follow safety regulations, building requirements, and hotel policies.

Maintain tools and supply inventory and coordinate vendor repairs as required.

Strong troubleshooting, maintenance, communication, and organizational skills. Must be able to prioritize tasks, work independently, minimize downtime, and consistently maintain safe, reliable, guest-ready facilities.
