HIPPY Home Visitor
Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters (HIPPY) is an evidence-based program that works with families in their homes to support parents in their critical role as their childs first and most important teacher.
The HIPPY Home Visitor delivers an established home- and group-based education program that supports parents in preparing their three- to five-year-old children for school through in-person and virtual home visits.
The Home Visitor will be based in Rosetown and Outlook and will deliver the HIPPY program to eligible families in these communities. The Home Visitor will be supported by the HIPPY Coordinator and the Mother Matters Centre (MMC), and functionally managed by the Southwest Newcomer Welcome Centre.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct weekly in-person and/or virtual home visits, including a minimum of two in-person visits per month.
Use a peer-support approach to model, mentor, and share information that enhances parenting skills.
Build trusting relationships with families using a family-centred approach and HIPPY curriculum.
Provide referrals to early childhood education programs and community resources as needed.
Promote the HIPPY program and recruit families who meet eligibility criteria.
Maintain and update participant information in the program database.
Attend weekly curriculum training and participate in ongoing program support.
Qualifications and Requirements
A university degree in Human Services, Social Sciences, Community Development, or a related field is an asset.
Education and/or experience in Early Childhood Education is an asset.
Fluency in another language is an asset.
Satisfactory Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check.
Valid Class 5 drivers licence and access to reliable transportation.
Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
