About this role
The Grain Merchandiser supports the administration and execution of grain purchase and sales contracts and coordinates contract activity with producers, customers, logistics, operations, accounting, and merchandising teams. Monitors grain positions, inventory, deliveries, shipments, and contract performance to ensure timely execution. Prepares and maintains accurate contract documentation, pricing, settlements, commercial reports, and customer, freight, commodity, and contract information. Assists with inventory reconciliation, contract settlements, and resolution of contract or customer issues. Analyzes grain markets, futures, basis activity, and grain positions to support merchandising decisions. Prepares and distributes daily grain pricing. Builds and maintains strong relationships with producers, customers, brokers, carriers, and internal stakeholders. Ensures compliance with company policies, Canadian Grain Commission requirements, and applicable trade regulations. Supports continuous improvement and other merchandising duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Post-secondary education in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Business, Commerce, or a related field is an asset. Experience in grain merchandising, grain handling, logistics, or agriculture is preferred. Knowledge of grain marketing, grain handling, futures markets, and crop inputs is an asset. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, is required; grain management software experience is an asset. Strong communication, interpersonal, customer service, organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills are required. Must demonstrate excellent attention to detail, the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment, work independently and collaboratively, and build strong producer, customer, and industry relationships.
