Geologist-in-Training (Saskatoon)

Responsibilities

• Working on any designated Orano exploration project(s), in accordance with the Project Geologist
• Providing logistical and technical support for exploration/development programs as directed by the Project Geologists. These duties include:

o    Collect and interpret field data primarily related to the logging of drill core

o    Enter data in project database

o    Assist with daily core handling functions (measuring, sampling, photography, moving full core boxes etc.)

o    Assist or complete down hole probing data acquisition

o    Infrared Spectrometry measurements on drill core (TerraSpec) and other physical property measurements

o    Provides as required written / oral presentation of results: maps, sections, tables, etc.

o    May be required to assist the Project Geologist in supervision of geo-technicians

o    Assist with spotting drill holes and flagging trails as necessary

Skills and Qualifications

• Degree in geology (B.Sc., M.Sc.)
• Registered, or the ability to register with APEGS
• Solid background in geology, structural geology, and geochemistry
• Uranium exploration field experience is an asset
• Good computer skills are essential; familiarity with Geosoft, AcQuire, and Microsoft Office are an asset
• Must understand geology of uranium prospects and deposits
• Valid Class 5 drivers license
• Experience operating snowmobiles or all-terrain vehicles (ex. ATV) is an asset

Work Location & Schedule

• Predominantly a field-based position in Northern Saskatchewan; isolated exploration camps or mine sites on a two to three week in and one week out field rotation
• Partially based at Saskatoon Corporate Office
• Normally a 10-hour work day in the field and an 8-hour work day in Saskatoon office, although some activity outside of normal working hours may be required
• This position requires moderate physical ability with ability to work in difficult and isolated conditions
