Muscowpetung Saulteaux Nation is looking for a Garbage Truck Driver/Waste Management Operator is responsible for the safe, reliable, and timely collection and disposal of residential and community solid waste across Muscowpetung. This position operates heavy waste collection vehicles and equipment, performs daily maintenance checks, enforces sanitation standards, and ensures adherence to community environmental and safety protocols.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Safely operate garbage truck along designated community routes.
- Collect and load community garbage in a timely and efficient manner.
- Transport collected waste to designated disposal site in compliance with local environmental regulations.
- Perform mandatory pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections daily (checking fluids, tire pressure, brakes, lights, and safety equipment).
- Maintain complete and accurate vehicle inspection logs and report any mechanical issues, damages, or required repairs to the Public Works Coordinator immediately.
- Ensure vehicle is kept clean inside and out, removing all personal trach daily in accordance with the Nation vehicle care standards.
- Schedule and coordinate routine preventative vehicle maintenance with the Public Work Coordinator.
- Interact with community members, elders, and staff in a respectful, courteous, and professional manner.
- Assist Public Works with other seasonal or emergency duties as required.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Valid Driver's License.
- Drivers Abstract
- Physical Capability: Ability to perform heavy physical labor, including lifting up to 50lbs repeatedly, pushing/pulling heavy bins, and working outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Documentation: Clear Criminal Record Check (Vulnerable Sector Check may be required)
