Family Advocate

The Family Advocate is a front-line service provider within the One Arrow First Nation Prevention Unit, responsible for delivering in-home and community-based supports to children, youth, and families. This position focuses on strengthening families, promoting child safety, and reducing the need for Child & Family Services (CFS) protection Support involvement through culturally grounded, trauma-informed, and strength-based approaches.

Duties

Conduct regular in-home visits to assess and support family environments Build and maintain trusting relationships with children, parents, and caregivers Identify risk factors, unmet needs, and family strengths Support families in daily living, routines, and child development Connect families to appropriate supports, including: health, dental and medical services, income supports, cultural supports, food security and community-based services Support implementation of family-centered case plans & assist families in achieving short- and long-term goals Attend appointments with families as needed for advocacy and support Maintain accurate documentation, including: home visit reports, case notes, Incident reports, and referral tracking logs Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, including: Mental Health & Addictions, Child & Family Well-Being, external agencies and service providers.

QUALIFICATIONS

Grade 12 or equivalent is required; Post-secondary education in Human Services field is an asset Minimum 2 years experience working with children, youth, & families, home visits, outreach and/or case management An equivalent combination of education, training and work experience will be considered Knowledge and understanding of family dynamics, child development, prevention and early intervention approaches Communicate effectively (written and verbal) Work independently and within a team Ability to manage competing priorities
