Equipment Operator

The Position

Reporting to the Public Works Foreman, the Public Works Equipment Operator will assist with the construction, maintenance and operation of municipal roads, infrastructure, equipment and facilities throughout the RM.

This is a hands-on position involving a variety of duties throughout the year.

Key Responsibilities

Duties may include, but are not limited to

Operating municipal heavy equipment, including graders, loaders, trucks, tractors, mowers, compactors and snow removal equipment;

Grading, maintaining and repairing municipal roads;

Gravel hauling and spreading;

Snow plowing and winter road maintenance;

Maintaining proper road drainage, approaches, ditches and culverts;

Mowing and vegetation maintenance;

Performing daily equipment inspections and safety checks;

Performing routine maintenance, servicing and minor repairs on municipal vehicles and equipment;

Identifying equipment requiring maintenance or repair and reporting concerns to the Public Works Foreman;

Installing and maintaining municipal signs and other infrastructure;

Assisting with water and wastewater operations and infrastructure, as required;

Maintaining accurate daily work and equipment records;

Following municipal safety policies, procedures and applicable occupational health and safety requirements;

Responding professionally and respectfully when interacting with ratepayers and the public; and

Performing other Public Works duties as assigned.
