Emergency Relief Support Worker

Support worker to provide mental health and cultural support to those that may be evacuated or impacted by evacuation as a result of wildfires and other natural disasters. Must have knowledge of Indigenous cultures and way of life and provide support in way of mental, emotional, wellness programming using a person-centered approach.

Job duties may include organizing supports, networking with other emergency support services, organize individual or group programming, connecting with Elders, provide debriefing and sensory safe spaces for those experiencing, distress, trauma and grief. Facilitate wellness sessions/groups on a variety of topics. Organize structured activities for children, youth families and Elders. Organize cultural crafts, activities, teachings, and land based activities, emergency preparedness activities. Collect data and reporting. Good communication and computer skills. Be able to work with all ages and work as part of a team. Be flexible and able to adapt to other job duties as necessary. Ability to travel often on very short notice. Travel costs are covered. Must have valid drivers license, own and reliable vehicle. Must be able to provide CPIC (criminal record check). Job posted until a suitable candidate is found.
