Emergency Receiving Home Support Worker

The Child Support Worker is responsible on an 8 to 12-hour basis for to provide a safe/nurturing

environment in a residential setting to ensure the physical, emotional, psychological and spiritual needs

of the children are met. The child support worker will ensure the care and welfare of the children in the

Emergency Receiving Homes by enforcing operating policies, rules and regulations, and by monitoring the

maintenance and cleanliness of the facility. The homes provide increased protection and a sense of safety

and belonging for children who are no longer in the care of their primary caregivers and or are involved

with the Ministry of Social Services.

Compose, collect and submit daily, weekly, and monthly statistical data to the coordinators. Example,

incident reports, daily schedules, appointments, etc.

Ensuring the 24-hour homes, buildings and vehicles are maintained to the code outlined in the policies,

procedures and manuals.

Maintain relevant training requirements as specified in this role and be open to any additional training,

workshops or personal development that will enhance the service delivery of FDFN programs.

Other duties as assigned by the Coordinators and Supervisors.

Preferred Qualifications

Early childhood education/youth Worker certificate and/or other certification in the basic human

services field and/or Grade 12 diploma with three (3) years child/youth care experience

First aid and CPR, ASSIST and Food Safe Handling Certificates

Crisis intervention training

ASIST

Knowledge of holistic models of health and wellness programs

Knowledge of childhood growth, development, behavior and community resources

Must possess a valid drivers license, SGI Driving Record required

Must be able to do shift rotational work
