About this role
Muskowekwan Child & Family Services (MCFS) seeks a Director to lead operations, reporting to the Board. This role requires strong interpersonal, management, strategic, and financial skills to ensure policies meet the needs of children and families.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Assist the Board with policy development and application.
Establish administrative policies, service structures, and reporting systems.
Administer budgets and reports within Board guidelines.
Advocate for sufficient federal and provincial funding.
Maintain official records and ensure regulatory compliance.
Determine staffing needs and provide direct supervision, guidance, and performance management (including annual reviews).
Oversee all staff development and training programs.
Keep the Board fully informed on the overall condition of the organization.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelors or Masters in Social Work or related field.
Minimum 5 years senior management experience in child protection/prevention within First Nations communities.
Experience with culturally appropriate service models and First Nations governance structures.
Demonstrated staff management, mentorship, and coaching skills.
Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PPT) and report writing.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Knowledge of Bill C-92, Child and Family Services Act, and case management.
Deep understanding of and sensitivity to Indigenous cultures, values, and experiences.
Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Ability to lead staff, prioritize demands, and take ownership of responsibilities.
Willingness to travel, work flexible hours, provide on-call services, and possess a valid drivers license.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary and benefits will be based on the MCFS salary grid, commensurate with the candidate's qualifications and experience.
