At NorthSask Special Needs, we're dedicated to providing an exceptional Day Program. As a Direct Support Worker, you'll play a pivotal role in ensuring the safety, effectiveness, and joy of our program.
Your Role
Reporting to the Manager and Supervisor, your responsibilities include:
General
Advocate for clients, being their positive role model.
Manage client situations with care to maintain a caring environment.
Collaborate to foster respectful relationships with clients, families, and team members.
Programming
Work with thw Manager and Supervisor to implement exciting program plans.
Apply strategies outlined in CPP and SP for client programming.
Contribute to meal preparation, personal care, and health monitoring.
Assist with medication administration.
Administrative
Understand and comply with CLSD legislation and NorthSask Special Needs policies.
Keep the Manager informed of any issues.
Maintenance/Housekeeping
Maintain the cleanliness of the Day Program area.
Report and perform minor repairs as needed.
Conduct monthly inspections of equipment and contribute to yard maintenance.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting people with disabilities.
Education related to working with individuals with disabilities.
Teamwork, organization, and problem-solving skills.
Cleared Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check.
Valid Class 5 Drivers License.
Working Conditions
Work in groups and individually.
Engage with challenging clients, offering support for unpredictable behavior.
Provide assistance for incontinent clients.
Lifting and carrying.
