Conductor

Wheatland Express is seeking an experienced Railway Conductor to support operations of the Wheatland Express excursion train based in Wakaw, Saskatchewan. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Railway Conductor interested in seasonal, casual work.

Responsibilities

• Perform Conductor duties during Wheatland Express excursion trains.
• Work closely with the Locomotive Engineer and onboard crew to ensure safe and efficient train operations.
• Perform required pre-trip inspections and ensure the train is prepared for safe operation.
• Operate switches, couple and uncouple equipment, and perform other railway operating duties as required.
• Maintain effective radio communication with the Locomotive Engineer and crew members.
• Assist in ensuring passenger safety during boarding, travel, and disembarking.
• Maintain strict adherence to operating rules, operating procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements.
• Maintain a professional and safety-focused environment while working around passengers, employees, volunteers, and the public.

Qualifications

• Previous railway Conductor experience is required.
• Strong knowledge of railway operating rules, switching procedures, and safe train operations.
• Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
• Effective radio communication skills.
• Ability to work safely with minimal supervision.
• Professional and dependable, with an understanding of the additional responsibilities associated with passenger train operations.
• Comfortable interacting with passengers and members of the public.
• Physically capable of climbing equipment, operating switches, walking on uneven surfaces, and working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Applicants are required to hold a valid driver's license
• Employment is conditional upon successfully passing the required CROR rules examination and railway medical.
