Varo Builds Inc. (Moose Jaw, SK) Full-time, permanent | MondayFriday, day shift $30 to $40 per hour depending on experience
Varo Builds manufactures fully finished floor, wall, and roof assemblies for commercial and light industrial buildings. We're hiring a CNC Technician to own our hot wire foam cutting operation the machine that shapes every insulation core we produce. This is a foundational role on a growing production line, not a button-pushing job.
What you'll do
Program and operate a CNC hot wire machine cutting EPS insulation cores
Take shop drawings through to toolpaths nesting, profile generation, kerf compensation
Dial in wire temperature, feed rate, and tension to hold dimensional tolerance across varying foam densities
Perform first-article and in-process dimensional checks; troubleshoot deviations
Handle routine machine maintenance wire replacement, tension, alignment, calibration
Manage material yield and minimize offcut waste
Grow into programming and operating additional CNC equipment as we add capacity
What you bring
CNC operating or programming experience any platform. We run Mach 3; if you've run Fanuc, Haas, Centroid, LinuxCNC, or similar, you'll pick it up quickly and we'll train you
Comfort with 2D and 3D drawing software. We use CorelDRAW and Fusion 360; equivalent experience (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Illustrator, Rhino) transfers fine
Ability to read G-code and troubleshoot a program, not just run it
Solid grasp of dimensional tolerancing and measurement
Hot wire or foam cutting experience is a strong asset sign making, architectural foam, prop and scenery work, composite plugs, or RC/aerospace foam cores all count
Mechanically inclined and willing to get your hands on the machine
