Branch Library Clerk, Casual

Esterhazy Public Library is interested in meeting you! Parkland Regional Library is hiring a casual branch library clerk for its Esterhazy branch to replace the current employee when unavailable to work.  Responsible for the general operation of the local branch library, including provision of primary public services and programs to the residents of Esterhazy and area, branch librarians perform a variety of important tasks, requiring a thorough knowledge of public library branch procedures. Training is provided.

Duties include

To carry out all branch operations including circulation, interlibrary loan and collection management,

To assist patrons in the selection and use of print and digital library materials,

To maintain library materials in good order and arrange book displays on shelves,

To assist in the promotion and implementation of local programming in accordance with local community needs.

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills

Working knowledge of branch library procedures is required,

Ability to serve the public courteously and to handle difficult situations with resourcefulness and tact,

Ability to make decisions in accordance with prescribed regulations, policies and procedures,

Ability to work independently and to organize work so that assigned tasks are completed on time,

Reliability and accuracy are important traits.

Basic computer skills are essential, as is physical mobility and fitness. Must be able to lift boxes of books.

Acceptable criminal record check with vulnerable sector check required.
