About this role
Working within the Autism Intervention Program (AIP), you will be a valued member of an interdisciplinary team of passionate professionals dedicated to supporting children and youth with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and their families.
Under the clinical oversight of the Director and Senior Autism Consultant, the Behaviour Therapist is responsible for delivering one-on-one programming developed specifically for each child. Successful candidates will demonstrate strong play skills, a positive attitude, and a high level of energy and patience. You are organized, encouraging, enthusiastic, and able to multitask effectively. You are receptive to constructive feedback and can implement recommendations immediately during home- and/or centre-based therapy sessions.
In this role, you will also support and coach parents in implementing strategies related to target behaviours and skill acquisition plans. In addition, you should feel comfortable presenting information about ASD to the public.
The ideal candidate will have
- completed a University Degree or Regional College program in a field related to education, early childhood, social services, psychology or graduated from a Behavioral Science Technology Program.
- a minimum of two years' experience in the direct delivery of educational/therapeutic programs for children with ASD. Specific experience in the delivery of Applied Behaviour Analysis will be an asset.
- demonstrated understanding of Autism Spectrum Disorders
- highly developed interpersonal and communication skills and demonstrated ability to work respectfully and cooperatively with other team members.
- a valid driver's license and access to a vehicle (required).
- proficiency in Microsoft Office and general computer applications
