After School Facilitator

Position: Part-time, weekdays after school

Reports to: Director of operations

We are seeking a dependable, energetic and compassionate facilitators to provide a safe, welcoming and engaging environment for school-aged children.

The facilitators will lead recreational, creative, educational and social activities while building positive relationships with participants and families. Activities may include games, sports, arts and crafts, homework help, outdoor recreation, life-skills learning and healthy snacks.

Key Responsibilities

Plan and lead inclusive, age-appropriate activities.

Supervise children and maintain a safe environment.

Build respectful relationships with participants and families.

Use trauma-informed, strengths-based and culturally respectful approaches.

Support positive behaviour, cooperation and conflict resolution.

Maintain attendance, sign-in, sign-out and incident records.

Prepare and clean program spaces, equipment and supplies.

Follow child-safety, confidentiality and emergency procedures.

Work with staff, volunteers and practicum students.

Assist with special events and other duties as required.

Qualifications

Experience working or volunteering with children or youth.

Strong communication, organization and relationship-building skills.

Ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations.

Understanding of inclusion, diversity and barriers affecting families.

First Aid and CPR, or willingness to obtain certification.

Successful Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable uitd Sector Check.

Education in recreation, education, early childhood education, social work, youth care or a related field is an asset. Equivalent education, volunteer and lived experience will be considered.
