Adult Mentor

The Adult Mentor plays a critical frontline role in supporting adults with cognitive disabilities who are navigating trauma, addiction, housing instability, and disconnection from community supports. Under the direction of the Adult Mentoring Team Lead, the Adult Mentor provides individualized mentorship, crisis response, housing assistance, and cultural engagement. This position requires a strong balance of empathy and accountability, ensuring clients receive consistent, compassionate, and culturally grounded support.  Adult Mentor acts as a stabilizing influence in the lives of clients, building trust, promoting wellness, and supporting skill development.

Role demands emotional intelligence, resilience, and professionalism with Eagle Heart Centre universal competencies.

Grade 12 Diploma with a minimum one year of training and/or hands-on experience supporting individuals with cognitive disabilities, including FASD. Experience providing individual or group support, mentorship, or counseling considered an asset.

Deep understanding of Indigenous cultures, traditions, and the impacts of intergenerational trauma and colonization.

Ability to support, motivate, and guide adults using strengths-based and trauma-informed approaches.

Strong verbal and written communication skills, including active listening and respectful engagement across diverse backgrounds.

Maintains ethical conduct, reliability, and integrity while working with vulnerable populations.

Recognizes risk, intervenes calmly, and follows established safety procedures and reporting protocols.

Works effectively both independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Demonstrates openness to supervision, feedback, and ongoing professional development.

Provide a Criminal Record Check including Vulnerable Sector clearance.

Valid class 5 drivers license and a reliable insurable vehicle
