The Provincial Archives of Saskatchewan is seeking a permanent full-time Archivist in Regina to support the appraisal, acquisition, preservation, and accessibility of records significant to Saskatchewan's history. They can manage complex archival collections, provide expert advice on access and privacy matters, work with researchers and stakeholders, and contribute to the development of archival policies, programs, and procedures.
Candidates must possess a master's degree in archival science, library science, history, or a related field, supplemented by relevant training, along with several years of archival experience. Strong knowledge of archival appraisal and acquisition practices, records management, copyright, privacy and access legislation, and Saskatchewan history is required. A valid Class 5 driver's licence is required. The ability to lift archival materials, operate storage retrieval equipment, and work in environments with dust, mildew, or mould is necessary.
Responsibilities include appraising and acquiring government and private records, reviewing access requests, ensuring compliance with privacy and access requirements, advising researchers and staff, managing archival storage and record tracking systems, and contributing to archival program planning and development.
