101168 - Probation Officer Community Youth Worker

The Ministry of Corrections, Policing and Public Safety is seeking a Probation Officer/Community Youth Worker to join Community Corrections in Creighton. Candidates must have a degree or a two-year diploma in Correctional Studies, Justice Studies, Community and Justice Services, Social Work, Mental Health, or a related field focused on behavioural change and assessment. A valid driver's licence is required.

Required knowledge includes criminal behaviour, cognitive behavioural interventions, addictions, domestic violence, poverty, disabilities, mental health, family dynamics, abuse and neglect, and systemic barriers affecting individuals and communities. Strong assessment, case planning, critical thinking, communication, and relationship-building skills are essential.

Responsibilities include providing case management and interventions for youth and adult offenders, conducting interviews and assessments, preparing court reports, completing risk assessments, implementing risk management strategies, maintaining client records, and collaborating with community agencies to support rehabilitation and community safety.
