Community Corrections is seeking a dedicated Probation Officer/Community Youth Worker to provide programs and services to adult and youth offenders using an integrated, client-centred approach. The ideal candidate will work effectively with diverse populations, build strong community partnerships, and demonstrate sound judgment, professionalism, and a commitment to rehabilitation and public service excellence.
Candidates must possess a degree or diploma in a related field such as Correctional Studies, Justice Studies, Community and Justice Services, Social Work, or Mental Health. Knowledge of criminal behaviour, cognitive-behavioural interventions, risk assessment practices, and systemic barriers affecting individuals and communities is required. Strong communication, case management, assessment, report-writing, and interpersonal skills are essential. A valid driver's licence and the ability to travel and work flexible hours are required.
Responsibilities include conducting risk and community assessments, developing case management plans, delivering interventions and programming, preparing court and violation reports, maintaining client records, conducting home visits, collaborating with community agencies, and supporting offenders and victims of crime.
