The Advocate for Children and Youth is seeking a Regional Advocate in Saskatoon to support and advance the rights and interests of children and youth across Saskatchewan. Working independently and within a team, the successful candidate will advocate for young people, assess services, support policy compliance, and engage with stakeholders using a fair, objective, and non-adversarial approach.
The ideal candidate has extensive experience working with children, youth, families, community organizations, government agencies, and diverse populations, particularly Indigenous Peoples. They are collaborative, professional, and skilled in resolving complex issues.
Candidates require strong knowledge of child and youth-serving systems, legislation, government programs, advocacy principles, policy analysis, research, investigation, negotiation, mediation, stakeholder engagement, community outreach, and public presentations. Excellent communication, organizational, time management, and information management skills are essential. A university degree in social sciences, social work, law, or a related field, plus at least 10 years of related experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience), is required. Travel and occasional work outside regular hours may be required.
