The Ministry is seeking adaptable, professional, and safety-focused individuals to serve as Scale Officers enforcing transportation legislation on Saskatchewan highways. Candidates should have strong communication and interpersonal skills, sound judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with industry representatives, enforcement partners, and government agencies. Qualified candidates must possess a valid Canadian Class 5 driver's licence, valid First Aid/AED certification, and successfully complete required physical, medical, and psychological assessments, including SOPAT/PARE/POPAT standards. The role requires shift work, travel, overnight stays, and successful completion of commercial vehicle enforcement, inspection, and use-of-force training. Strong communication, critical thinking, digital, data literacy, and decision-making skills are required.
Responsibilities include inspecting commercial vehicles and operators for safety, weights, dimensions, permits, registration, insurance, and licensing compliance; conducting investigations and inspections; preparing reports; laying charges; and appearing in court as required.
