Department Information
The Department of Infrastructure (INF) provides high quality services to the public and Government of the Northwest Territories’ (GNWT) departments, boards and agencies including the planning, design, construction, acquisition, operation and maintenance of public transportation infrastructure and the buildings, works and equipment required for the GNWT to deliver its programs and services. INF makes essential petroleum products available for sale to the public where these products are not provided by the private sector, and promotes the development and increased use of energy efficient technologies. INF also regulates electrical and mechanical safety services and licenses individuals and vehicles operating in the territory.

Job Information
The Real Property Agreements Coordinator shares responsibility for administering a revenue lease portfolio of over 400 leases, licenses and other commercial agreements, which generate revenues of over $3.5 million per year. In addition to the revenue portfolio, this position also helps to administer an expense lease portfolio of over 115 leases with a total annual cost of $35.5 million.
This position provides a clear framework for the responsible management and administration of aeronautical and non¿aeronautical commercial activities at Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) airports. The responsibilities include the drafting of licenses, leases, memoranda of understanding, other contractual agreements, letters enforcing the terms and conditions of agreements and managing the developmental application process for all 26 NWT airports. This position deals directly with tenants and clients on all issues related to the commercial development and leasing functions.
This position also provides support to the Facilities and Properties division for all real property leasing activities. This includes drafting of office lease agreements, renewal letters, and continued need letters.
Critical knowledge, skills, and abilities include
Knowledge of real estate complexities related to leasing and commercial contracts.
Knowledge of principles and best practices, specific to the commercial leasing industry, and practices related to commercial agreements.
Knowledge of Real Estate Law and relevant Common Law Principles.
Interpersonal skills, including tact, diplomacy and practical negotiating skills.
Knowledge of drafting and administering legal documentation (industrial, commercial, land leases and licenses).
Organizational and time¿management skills
Ability to understand and apply relevant acts, regulations, standards, policies and directives, and to translate them into operational procedures.
Typically, attained by
Certified Leasing Officer (CLO) designation, plus 2 years of relevant experience in commercial leasing or lease compliance field.
Equivalencies
A Diploma in Marketing, Economics, or Urban Planning and 1 year of relevant experience in commercial leasing or lease compliance field.
3 years of relevant experience in commercial leasing or lease compliance field.
Relevant experience in commercial leasing or lease compliance field includes:
Property management, working with a variety of lease building types and sizes.

The salary range for this position is from $47.40 per hour to $56.61 per hour (approximately $92,430 - $110,390) plus an annual Northern Allowance of $3,700.
