The department of Public Service Delivery is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Grounds Maintenance at Milner Ridge Correctional Centre.

Duties
Reporting to the Facility Manager, the grounds maintenance is responsible for the maintenance of the grounds including lawns, trees, roadways, parking lots and sidewalks at Milner Ridge Correctional Centre to ensure client and public safety as well the appearance of the site.
Qualifications
Essential
Experience in the operation of equipment including grass mowers, tilling, gardening, snow removal and other related tools and machinery, a combination of experience and training may be considered.
Experience in snow and ice removal from roads, parking lots, sidewalks, roofs, building entrances and other areas as required.
Strong leadership skills with experience coaching and supervising staff, including assigning and reviewing work of subordinates.
Knowledge of workplace safety and health legislation, including The Workplace Safety and Health Act, associated regulations, federal legislation, and safe work practices.
Effective interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment.
Ability to work independently and establish priorities.
Excellent verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with contractors, clients and the general public.
Experience conducting routine maintenance on equipment including oil changes, spark plugs, fluid levels and tire pressure.
Conditions of Employment
Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
Must provide and maintain a satisfactory Criminal Record Check and Enhanced Security Screening Level 2
Must possess a certification in pesticides and herbicides application or must obtain within six months of employment commencement
Must have a valid Class 5 Drivers Licence and be capable of traveling within the District
Must be physically capable of performing the duties of the position, including heavy lifting, pushing and pulling, crouching, climbing and must be able to work around dust and chemicals, in extreme weather conditions and noise levels
Must be able to work overtime as required
