Alberta Infrastructure is responsible for delivering about one quarter of the Alberta government’s Capital Plan, which addresses the provincial infrastructure needs of Alberta’s population that support key social programs and services and economic development.
The Ministry designs, builds, manages, and maintains government-owned and operated facilities and collaborates with other ministries to ensure that school and hospital infrastructure meet the needs of Alberta’s population. Role Responsibilities

We are looking for a Senior Procurement Officer to lead supplies procurements for all GoA departments. This position reports to a Procurement Manager in the Corporate Purchasing unit.
The Senior Procurement Officer acquires the goods valued over $10,000 and associated services on behalf of Government of Alberta departments, in accordance with the Department's Mandate as defined in the Government of Alberta Direct Purchase Regulation and Direct Purchase Administrative Practices. Ensures that the procurement process is managed professionally, fairly and equitably while maximizing the benefits to the Government of Alberta and conforming to applicable trade agreements. Establishes supply agreements and provides direction, assistance and consultative expertise to departments. Participates in the Corporate Procurement Section Mentoring Program as a mentor to develop the skills in new Procurement Officers.
The primary responsibilities for the Senior Procurement Officer include, but are not limited to:
Conducting open and fair procurements that comply with trade agreements, government legislation and purchasing policies.
Working closely with client departments, developing clear and concise solicitation documents.
Supporting clients during the full procurement cycle.
Independently providing accurate procurement advice/information to clients.
Integrating information to respond appropriately to vendor enquiries.
Using the Supply Chain Management functions of the GoA’s Enterprise Resource Planning system (1GX).
Evaluating vendor responses and preparing recommendations for contract awards.
Proactively resolving contract issues with vendors.

Qualifications
Required
University graduation in Public Administration or a related field
PLUS Two (2) years of progressively responsible related experience
Equivalency: Related experience or education (e.g. related diploma) may be considered as an equivalency on a one-for-one basis.
Assets
2 years of experience in public sector procurement.
Professional purchasing certification (e.g. SCMP or similar).
Proficiency using Ariba supply chain management software or similar.
Knowledge of trade agreements.
Knowledge of legislation and policies specific to GoA procurement.
Understanding of machinery of government decision-making.
