Reporting to the IT Procurement Manager, the IT Procurement Analyst is responsible for the successful delivery of procurement projects and contracts within an assigned portfolio of IT goods and services.
As a key member of the IT Goods and Services Procurement (ITP) team, you will partner with business areas to achieve effective procurement outcomes that balance value, risk management, compliance, and strategic objectives. This role is instrumental in supporting procurement planning, contract execution, data analysis, reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives that contribute to the Ministry's broader goals.
The IT Procurement Analyst develops and executes procurement activities and contracts while ensuring alignment with Government of Alberta policies, trade agreement obligations, and procurement best practices. The position also supports procurement reporting, contract oversight, and projects of varying complexity, while providing guidance and mentorship to IT Procurement Officers as required.
Success in this role requires strong analytical capabilities, sound judgment, and the ability to build productive relationships with stakeholders across all levels of the organization. The IT Procurement Analyst serves as a trusted partner, facilitating procurement activities and helping ensure transparent, compliant, and efficient procurement processes.
Responsibilities
Some of the responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Executing procurement activities to ensure best practices and the highest standards of procurement excellence are achieved and maintained.
Collaborating with stakeholders to support effective procurement planning, sourcing strategies, and contract management activities.
Conducting procurement and contract data analysis, reporting, and monitoring to support informed decision-making and continuous improvement.
Ensuring Government of Alberta document management policies, reporting requirements, and record-keeping standards are consistently followed for all procurement and contract documentation.
Supporting procurement projects of varying complexity and contributing to the successful delivery of strategic procurement initiatives.
Providing mentorship, guidance, and coaching to members of the IT Procurement Team to foster knowledge sharing and professional development.
Building and maintaining effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders while ensuring compliance with trade agreements, legislation, policies, and procurement frameworks.

Qualifications
Requirements
University graduation in a related field such as Business, Public Administration, Procurement, Contract and Vendor Relationship Management.
2 years of related experience in procurement, contract, and supplier/vendor management.
Experience in strategy and policy planning, research and development.
Equivalencies
Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:
1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
1 year of experience for 1 year of education
Assets
Experience in
Procurement, consultation and contract management.
SAP FieldGlass or similar services procurement management system.
IT operations, project integration, ministry support, application support, supplier management and their dependencies.
IT concepts, ITIL, COBIT, and Agile.
Various Artificial Intelligence technologies.
Knowledge of Government of Alberta procurement policies, legislation, trade agreements.
Expertise in Project management methodologies.
Adaptable with forward-thinking and eagerness to learn and apply Artificial Intelligence and emerging technologies to drive operational efficiencies.
Strong organizational skills, with ability to prioritize and manage time effectively to meet deadline constraints.
Proficiency with standard office productivity software (e.g., Microsoft Office suite, SharePoint, SAP, Ariba
