As the Ministry of Forestry and Parks we are responsible for fostering Alberta’s environmentally responsible forest management practices, including management of wildfires. We preserve our provincial parks for the recreation and enjoyment of Albertans. As well as enabling access to public lands for recreational and commercial purposes while prioritizing conservation. Forestry and Parks also manage public lands and balances sustainable rangelands and grazing leases for Alberta producers.

Role Responsibilities
Reporting directly to the Finance and Administration Unit Lead, the Administrative Team Lead is responsible for manpower administration, business support services, and staff supervision across regional program areas. This role plays a critical part in supporting workforce planning, payroll administration, records management, revenue processes, and operational service delivery while fostering a high-performing and customer-focused team environment. Success in this position requires strong leadership, sound judgment, and the ability to balance multiple priorities in a dynamic operational setting.
Your key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Coordinating regional manpower administration activities in alignment with human resource policies, collective agreements, and corporate procedures.
Supporting recruitment processes, staffing actions, and salary administration activities.
Processing payroll and staffing documentation while ensuring data accuracy and compliance with established timelines.
Reconciling leave, overtime, benefits, payroll transactions, and manpower-related financial records.
Preparing manpower forecasts, year-end accruals, quarterly liability reports, and other workforce-related reporting.
Producing statistical and ad hoc reports to support operational and management decision-making.
Providing guidance and interpretation of policies, agreements, procedures, and administrative practices to staff and managers.
Managing records and information in accordance with departmental standards, records management requirements, and FOIP legislation.
Supporting revenue collection, cash handling, and administrative processes in accordance with departmental guidelines.
Ensuring effective client service delivery through reception, inquiries, licensing, permit sales, and operational support functions.
Participating in emergency response operations by providing Human Resource and/or Finance support within the Incident Command System (ICS) structure when required.
Supervising, coaching, mentoring, and developing administrative staff located across multiple worksites.
Monitoring workloads, setting priorities, and evaluating performance to support operational objectives and service excellence.
Promoting workplace safety, wellness, and compliance with Occupational Health and Safety requirements.

Qualifications
Education and Experience
:
High school diploma supplemented by four years of progressively responsible experience in finance, human resources, or a related field.
Equivalency
:
Directly related experience or education considered on the basis of:
one year of experience for one year of education or
one year of education for one year of experience.
Assets
:
Strong supervisory and leadership experience.
Experience with payroll, financial, or workforce management systems such as FIRES or similar enterprise systems.
Experience supporting budgeting, forecasting, and workforce planning activities.
Demonstrated experience with budgeting processes and advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including data analysis and reporting.
Incident Command System (ICS) training and experience supporting emergency response operations.
Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) legislation, regulations, and workplace safety programs.

Notes
This temporary position is expected to end on June 30, 2027. The standard work schedule is 7.25 hours per day (36.25 hours per week). Overtime and travel may be required due to operational wildfire response needs.
