Role Responsibilities
The Accommodation Planner coordinates and oversees accommodation needs for the Ministry of Transportation and Economic Corridors across facilities throughout the province. The role manages accommodation projects such as office relocations, renovations, furniture initiatives, and short- and long-term planning strategies, while collaborating with internal clients, government partners, vendors, and contractors. The position also provides recommendations on accommodation issues and coordinates parking administration, surplus, RMI, and other related requests.
The main job responsibilities include (but not limited to):
Accommodation Planning
Consult with clients and stakeholders to assess accommodation needs, define project requirements, develop and recommend solutions, conduct site visits, and ensure workspace plans support operational and business objectives.
Project Management
Coordinate construction and renovation projects to ensure scope, design requirements, timelines, and budgets are met, while collaborating with consultants, architects, and government partners to resolve issues and track project progress.
Property Management
Coordinate facility maintenance and service requests, resolve building-related issues with Alberta Infrastructure and building management, represent the ministry at relevant meetings, and manage RMI property claims.
Furniture
Advise and support program areas with furniture acquisition, selection, installation, and reuse, ensuring compliance with government standards and coordinating with Alberta Infrastructure, vendors, and other partners.
Parking Administration
Manage the ministry’s parking inventory and assignments, ensure compliance with applicable directives and taxable benefit requirements, monitor parking usage, and coordinate parking-related issues and allocations.
Ministry Lead WAAC (Wireless Account Authorization Coordinator)
Lead and coordinate the ministry’s mobile wireless products and services, communicate updates and changes, support issue escalation and resolution, and represent the ministry on the Lead WAAC Committee.
The Accommodation Planner is responsible for resolving a variety of complex issues that often involve multiple stakeholders and competing priorities. Recognizing the interdisciplinary nature of these issues are essential to achieving successful outcomes and preventing escalation or strain in relationships between the department, other government entities, and external partners.

Qualifications
Required
University degree in Architecture, Construction Management, Interior Design or related, PLUS 2 years related experience or equivalent as described below
Equivalency
Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of 1 year of education for 1 year of experience, or 1 year of experience for 1 year of education.
For Example
Related 2-year diploma PLUS a minimum 4 years of experience.
Related minimum 6 years of experience in lieu of formal education.
Related Experience and Knowledge required for this position includes:
Experience related to project management, architecture, interior design, furniture systems, functional space planning, construction management and procurement.
Knowledge of government wide policies, standards and procedures relating to accommodations, parking,
furniture, leasing, space standards, ergonomics, and RMI.
Proficient in Microsoft 365 Office applications (Excel, Word, SharePoint, Visio), Adobe Acrobat, and AutoCAD software.
Preference will be give to candidates with proficiency in multiple GOA systems, including WORTS, OSSI, and OPRA.
